We also highlight the impactful work our organization does in empowering military Veterans through the power of dogs. Here you'll find a collection of podcast appearances, newspaper features, and press releases that highlight our mission, achievements, and the belief that a dog can change a Veteran’s life.
Our CEO & Founder
BJ Ganem leads all administrative functions for Sierra Delta. His personal experience with military-to-civilian transition influences his insight into what support veterans need when returning home. BJ’s journey has led him from the United States Marine Corps to nonprofit organizations such as the Semper Fi Fund. On November 25, 2004, while on patrol in Iraq, BJ’s vehicle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.). The attack left BJ with an amputated left leg, mild brain injury, and shrapnel wounds. Above all, the attack left BJ with the unprepared realization he would no longer be an Infantryman in the fight for freedom. BJ found his purpose in helping other men and women transition into society. A USC graduate with an MSW in Social Work, BJ also captains the Wounded Warrior Amputee Football Team (WWAFT). BJ and his wife Sarah live in Reedsburg, WI, with their family and rescue dog named Loki.
